Highly Recommended Books
I can honestly say that I wouldn't be where I am today if it hadn't been for the hundreds of self-development books I have read, CDs I've listened to and courses that I have attended.
All of these materials have shaped, illuminated, expanded and filled my mind in a particularly unique way and gave me more insights on the topics below.
I hope that they will have as great a positive impact on you as they did on me.
Enjoy!
With love, from Esther

Taking Charge of Anger is the book that started my whole self-development journey. Those of you who have come to my classes know that I used to have huge anger issues, with throwing things, temper tantrums, yelling at people at the top of my lungs... Now I have a pretty calm temprement and it takes a lot for me to get worked up. Maybe you have an explosive temper too or maybe you just get annoyed easily by things. Whichever the case may be this book can help you.
Inside this book you will learn: the causes of anger (unrealistic expectations, upbringing), how to identify when you are starting to get angry (watch for the physical signs) and what to do about it (visualise a safe place, walk away.) With many practical examples, quizzes, and exercises, this book will help you take charge of your anger and become a much nicer person to be around!

Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway taught me that in the reason most small business owners work far too long hours and are tired and stressed all the time is because their company lacks business systems and procedures, and because the owners are reluctant to delegate work to other people because they think other people will not do it right.
The issue with operating in that mode is that soon the business that they started with enthusiasm and passion becomes over time an overwhelming demanding job with demands on you day and night. A far cry from the life of leisure that people think they will get!
In the E-myth Michael Gerber explains to us the importance of documenting everything, and turning your business into almost a mini-franchise which runs smoothly with or without you!

Super-Confidence is a book few have heard of, by a British self-help guru Dawn Breslin. I stymbled across it in a Borders bookstore while waiting for a friend one fateful day, and it was one of the first books I read that made a huge change to my mindset and confidence during a time when I struggled with self-image issues and work-related stress. From Dawn I learned to treat myself as something or someone precious and fragile, to protect myself as I would defend a child, family member or my best friend. I also learned how to use some great visualisation techniques to deal with past hurts and conflicts.
Having then gone onto one of her courses, I found Dawn to be a warm friendly and genuine person who is not afraid to share examples from her own life in order to help others. I am also grateful to her for her patience as for the whole Saturday of the course I was the annoying person sobbing in the corner even though it wasn't meant to make us feel sad!

The 4 hour Work Week is a book I talk about ALL the time. Whether you are well paid or a minimum wage earner; trapped in the rat race in a job that you dislike or you are running or plan to run your own business, let me save you a lifetime of regret by telling you now: all the money in the world won't make the slightest difference if you never got the chance to do the things that you planned and hoped to do (eg. learn to scuba dive, ice-skate, travel the world) while you were still young enough and healthy enough to do them.
So half of Tim Ferriss' book is on how to create a unique online business by finding a market and creating a product specifically for that market and the other half of his book is on how to automate and outsource your work and your business to other people in other countries and basically have them run your company while you enjoy 3 month in Argentina learning how to Tango. Riveting stuff!

Cold Calling Techniques that Really Work by Stephan Schiffman is a book by a Sales Master. Schiffman is one of the best when it comes to sales and what I like most about his books is that they are short, compact but full of really useful lessons on sales that create instant improvements. Unlike some other books that bore you with pages of theory, he just gets on with it and tells you how to get the sale!
For those of you who are in business or sales, you can't afford not to read his books!

Multiple Streams of Income promises that there are many, many, many ways to wealth and that you are more likely to be wealthy if you have many different income sources rather than just one large one. Some of the suggested income streams include Property, Multi-Level Marketing, Internet, Intellectual Property, etc.
Well worth a read if you are feeling stuck about wealth!

The One Minute Millionaire is still one of the most unique books that I have read on wealth and business, mainly because of the format. Using the NLP principles that some of us prefer allegories and stories while others prefer facts, figures and lists, all the right pages in the book tell a story about a woman who had to find £1,000,000 in 3 months in order to get her kids back from her evil in-laws who had kidnapped them, while all the left pages in the book is a conventional self-help book with instructions and diagrams.
I read only the story pages and was left motivated, inspired and with many many good ideas on how to get wealthy. If you are the kind of person that usually finds it difficult to read through a self-help book, then read this very short but very instructional story!

Change your Life with NLP is the main book I would recommend for NLP beginners because it's practical, helpful and SHORT and not full of jargon and technical terms like other so-called beginners books. Most people I find are attracted to NLP because of specific areas they would like to improve in their own lives rather than to learn the names of specific theories or techniques. This book has many sections that you fill in as you go along about your goals, dreams, and things you would like to improve and easy exercises you can do to make changes in your mind.

Hey, surely I'm allowed to read fiction as well, aren't I? Lol.
I'll never understand why they choose the awful picture on the left as the cover of Gone With The Wind, it makes the book seem like a trashy romance novel when actually it is a masterpiece of complexity. Yes, I said a masterpiece!
If you look beneath the surface, Gone With The Wind is about the decline of a civilisation, about the idealism of war versus the grim reality, about the effects of war on the people left behind and not the ones who fought. It features a flawed heroine, who starts out a spoilt brat but then whose true character of steel shines through as she takes everything that life gives her without flinching. Despite the death of several husbands, the loss of her family home, deaths of her parents, starvation, still she manages to survive and protect the ones around her by being unafraid to bend the rules of society, convention and morality because she would rather survive than not at all.
Does that sound a bit like behavioural flexibility to you? In any case, it's a bit of fun with a few lessons thrown in. It's not a light read being 500+ pages but well worth the time. Did I mention I've read it 4 times?
